Here at Herbivore, supporting causes we are passionate about is one of our greatest sources of pride. So far in 2019, we’ve increased our charitable contributions by 40%, bolstering movements toward environmental health, civil and reproductive rights, cannabis legalization, and LGBTQ safety and protection. We continue to cultivate gratitude for our customers, who greatly help in enabling us to stand for the following values:
Sustainability:
This year for Earth Day, we made waves with our contribution to Clear Blue Sea, a nonprofit creating robotic solutions to the global ocean plastic catastrophe. We were able to raise over $16,000 in funds that went toward the development of FRED (Floating Robot Eliminating Debris) robots, which collect plastic pieces from the deep as small as 10mm and as long as a meter.
Freedom:
Prompted by the legislative struggle to defend reproductive rights in the United States in that reached a critical point in May and June, we contributed a $5 for every sale of Phoenix Facial Oil sales for 30 days, raising funds that went toward the ACLU, defending immigrants, people of color, and the LGBTQ community, in addition to reproductive rights.
Health:
Ongoing donation efforts include our promise to contribute $1 per sale of Emerald Deep Moisture Glow Oil and Emerald CBD + Adaptogens Deep Moisture Glow Oil to Americans for Safe Access, an organization dedicated to advancing legal medical cannabis therapeutics and research. The ASA is a leading organization in the movement toward legalization in the USA, which would reduce suffering related to cannabis criminal sentencing.
Safety + Protection:
Inspired by the richness of our Herbivore community, we are proud to dedicate our entire Prism collection to LGBTQ health and safety. We began 2019 continuing to donate $1 per Prism Exfoliating Glow Potion sale to the Queer & Trans Youth Music Project, a Seattle-based organization that holds safe creative space for queer and trans youth.
In April, we concluded our drive for QTYMP at just under $10K, shifting our efforts to support Rainbow Railroad, an organization that creates paths to safety and asylum for LGBTQ community members in compromising/hostile environments Thanks to Prism sales, we were able to raise funds used to fight for individual rights around the world.
Burdened by increasing nationalism, targeting and oppression in the United States, the immigrant community is unduly burdened. Immigration Equality provides free legal support to the LGBTQ and HIV+ immigrants and their families, and Herbivore was able to raise over $10K for an amazing organization with a remarkable 99% win rate.
The Trevor Project:
We polled group of Herbivore customers to help us to choose our latest charity: The Trevor Project. They work 24/7 to provide life-saving, life-affirming support for LGBTQ youth in crisis.*
Our friends at The Trevor Project estimate there are over 1.8 million LGBTQ youth in the US who seriously consider suicide every year. Due to the importance of these efforts, we contribute $1 per sale of each item in our PRISM collection to this organization.
